This policy outlines the responsibilities and guidelines for application users who wish to access and utilize the FLOTO platform for their research purposes.

Application User Responsibilities

Research Purposes:

  • The FLOTO platform is intended for academic, scientific, and educational research purposes only.
  • Research activities should align with the goals and objectives of the FLOTO project and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in relevant fields.
  • Prohibited activities include commercial use, personal or non-research use, unlawful or malicious activities, and activities that disrupt or interfere with the work of other users or the operation of the FLOTO platform.

Deployment Requests:

  • Application users must submit a deployment request prior to accessing or deploying on any devices in the FLOTO platform.
  • The deployment request should include a detailed description of the intended application, its purpose, and any specific device requirements.
  • The FLOTO team will review deployment requests to ensure they align with the platform’s purpose and guidelines. The review process typically takes 1 business day.

Residential Deployments:

Many FLOTO devices are currently deployed in residential homes, where device owners use the network for their daily work and personal activities. Application users must be cautious and considerate when deploying applications on devices in residential settings to avoid disrupting the device owner’s network performance and computing resources. Application users should minimize data consumption, avoid large file downloads or continuous data streaming unless necessary, design applications to minimize impact on the device owner’s resources, and conduct risk assessments to mitigate potential issues.

Security and Privacy:

  • Application users are responsible for developing safe and secure research applications, following standard security practices and guidelines.
  • Application users must take precautions to avoid collecting or publishing any personal or sensitive data from the devices or their associated networks.

Device Provider Policies:

  • Application users must adhere to any additional policies or guidelines set by the device providers who own the devices they wish to access.
  • Device providers have the authority to set specific usage policies for their devices, and application users must respect and comply with these policies.

FLOTO Platform Responsibilities

  • The FLOTO team will review deployment requests to ensure they align with the platform’s purpose and guidelines.
  • The FLOTO team will monitor the overall usage of the platform and provide support to both application users and device providers regarding FLOTO services as needed, via the forum.
  • The FLOTO team reserves the right to enforce the application user policy and take appropriate actions in case of violations.

Terms and Conditions
